Horses
When Helen married Philip Troughton, she brought her love of horses with her to Ballinteggart, allowing her to work from home when her children were young. This grew and Ballinteggart has now been home to a hugely successful sport horse breeding stud for over 20 years.
Ballinteggart Stud is well-known for breeding Irish horses and ponies
Irish Draughts and Connemaras, the two native breeds of Ireland, form the foundation of the breeding programme at Ballinteggart
During the summer, the mares and foals can be spotted grazing contentedly along the tree lined avenue.
Learn about their contribution to life in years past and their role for the future (Guided tours only).
